About

Biography:
Dr. Denys Dutykh is an esteemed scholar in applied mathematics, specializing in wave phenomena and environmental fluid mechanics. Born in Polohy, Ukraine, he earned his BSc and MSc degrees in Applied Mathematics from Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (2003-2004), where his early research focused on linear elasticity problems. A prestigious international scholarship brought him to France, where he pursued a second Master's degree at École Normale Supérieure de Cachan (now ENS Paris-Saclay), graduating as valedictorian in 2005. He completed his PhD at Centre Borelli under Prof. Frédéric Dias in just two years (2007), developing mathematical models for tsunami wave propagation.
In 2008, Dr. Dutykh joined the elite Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) as a permanent researcher at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc, where he spent over a decade advancing the field of mathematical modeling in environmental sciences. During this period, he defended his habilitation thesis in 2010 and established himself as a leading expert in computational fluid dynamics and wave theory. His work attracted international recognition, leading to his participation in the prestigious ERC Advanced Grant project MULTIWAVE at University College Dublin (2012-2013), a collaborative French-Irish initiative that further expanded his research on nonlinear wave phenomena and spectral methods.
After returning to France and continuing his impactful research at CNRS for several more years, Dr. Dutykh embarked on a new chapter in 2022, joining Khalifa University of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi as Associate Professor. In this role, he continues to advance the frontiers of applied mathematics, focusing on environmental fluid mechanics, tsunami modeling, and computational methods. His current work bridges theoretical mathematics with practical applications in environmental science, while he actively mentors the next generation of researchers and maintains collaborations with leading international research groups across Europe, North America, and Asia.
